Hello everyone,

The names Nick, from Ohio, and I am mostly a rookie to smoking. I had a master built electric and it was a royal piece of .... I'm from Cincinnati Ohio and a career Firefighter/Paramedic with the City of Hamilton. Currently in the market for a new smoker, probably around the $500 area. I am very open to suggestions, however I've only used an electric. Look forward to navigating around the forum and learning some new things, because there's nothing better than some good ole 'Q.

Welcome to SMF!

Glad to have you aboard!

I would suggest a WSM 22.5.

They are a great smoker right out of the box.

They hold their temps very well & you get the charcoal/wood flavor.

Price $399.

so can that be used as a wood smoker and charcoal smoker? How easy is it to maintain the temps since it doesn't appear to be a set and forget type of smoker

Good morning and welcome to the forum from another cloudy and windy day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web.            Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.
