reverse flow question

Has anyone thought about putting a vertical smoking box about the firebox on a standard smoker. Thought it might be a good way for extra cooking space.

Yes. I am building a new smoker out of a 18x43 inch tank and have a box that's 12x18 I thought about mounting on top of the firebox and make it a reverse flow. Not sure how it will work but worth a try.

Sounds like a plan to me, Lots of pictures on this forum that you can some good ideas from.
