I had the chance to stop at a meadery in Northern WI I've always enjoyed product from <Hard to find mead..but their ciders are great too!>

Well the owner happened to be there and I was asking how long he's been in business etc, and we got into talking a little Que, a little more mead..and he got me out a sample of a mead not even on the market. It was a blueberry mead with out any water involved. It was pure honey and locally picked and squeezed blueberry juice and the yeast!

It's not even properly aged yet..but it was light, slightly tart, and very refreshing! Crisp! Boy it sure pays to talk to the owner! Had a few glasses of a keg only blueberry cider they did as well. I should have asked about growlers...ahh well! A good reason to go back every year knowing they'll have it!

If you ever get a chance; I strongly advocate to try the stuff from this winery/meadery:

Oh and yes, I got mead soaked chips for my smoker.

Nice! I have a winery/meadery by my house that makes blueberry mead and other melomels.

Pretty good stuff! They have a peach iced tea mead coming out soon, so I’m looking to try that.

I agree...30 years ago, when we first moved to Lancaster County PA. We stopped at Nissley Winery, a Vineyard about 5 miles from our house. The manager ran the tasting room and sales. There was an old man sitting out on the veranda. I sat down and struck up a conversation. Turns out he was Mr. Nissley, himself. Being very proud of his wines, he told me to follow him. Took me back to a room not accessible to the public. It was His play room where they kept the private reserve, family only, wines and wines in development. He opened a couple bottles of older vintages, then commented, " You must try this! " One of there large fields became infected the Botrytis Cinerea, Noble Rot. It is a mold that dehydrates and flavors the grapes, giving a Honey like flavor and richness to the wine. It is very sweet and a small glass gives the feeling of eating a gourmet dessert. Pretty amazing stuff. They had a very limited production so the Wine was only going to a select list of their best customers. Mr. Nissley asked if I would like to be added to their exclusive list? OH HELL YES! I got my 2 limit a few months later. Man, that stuff was magical and YES, get to know the Owner of anything you enjoy. Including the Butcher Shop and Seafood Market!...JJ
