You can find all of the major sauce brands by the gallons, but what about the little guys? What regional producers deserve attention? Share your reviews.

I'm starting this thread because I was approached by a guy in a grocery parking lot. At first I thought he might be a panhandler, but he was carrying a box. Turns out he was with Hummer & Son, a Louisiana honey producer who is trying to break into the Ohio market. I bought a bottle of their raw unfiltered honey, and a bottle of their bbq sauce which uses their honey instead of refined sugar.

Honey is the second ingredient after tomatoes. It also has molasses, which gives it a dark flavor, and pepper which gives it a nice kick. There's some hickory smoke flavor in the background.

Jeff said it was OK to put in a plug for them, just don't link to them. So with that as a rule, tell us about sauces you've found.

Sounds like a good sauce. I have yet to find one that is better than Jeff's and doubt I will! I may try substituting Honey for the Brown sugar, or at least in part. bluewhisper bluewhisper if you haven't tried Jeff's sauce, get the recipe and give it a try

Years ago I tried Selmon Brothers BBQ sauce. They are two brothers who were former NFL players and are out of OK. I found their number and ordered some from them. One of the brothers was actually answering the phone when I called.

More locally though there is a Chivers BBQ sauce which I have tried several varieties and it was pretty good. Also another on called My Family Tradition sauce which I have not tried but have heard good things about.

I will have to say, one of my favorite "smaller" brands of BBQ sauce and rubs are Code 3 spices. Their Patriot Sauce is great. I have followed them on facebook and instagram as they grew from something very small to now much larger distribution. Think they just signed a deal with Ace Hardware and many grocery chains. Their original Patriot sauce is delicious, relatively low in sugar compared to most BBQ sauces and a percentage of everything they sell goes to first responder and military charities. Check them out!

Oh. When I read the title the first thing that came to mind was the 4 year, 11 month old Grand Daughter that absolutely loves anything to do with the kitchen. (Small Sauce Maker...)
I am a small sauce doctorer, does that count?
I take a base of Sweet Baby Rays, then kick it up several notches and add Sage Honey to make it finger licking good.

I like the Chiver’s but it’s a little too buttery for me.
