I really love the Famous Dave's Spicy Dill Pickles with Garlic but they only come in slices. I would really like them as spears.

Last week I finished off a jar and the little lightbulb dimly lit up above my head. I took a cucumber and cut it into spears and shoved them into the jar instead of tossing it. I put it in the fridge and waited a week to see how they would turn out.

Way better than I could have hoped for. The brine was strong enough that it tastes the same as the slices but is even better in the spear form. Now I will have to test how many times I can do this until it doesn't work anymore.

I do that the same with onion slices, I love pickled red onion.
I drop in a few black pepper corns and fill up the jar with sliced onoins.
My homemade pickle brines is good, but not great. So using leftover brine from piçkles really helps.

"keep going till dont work anymore". lmao you sound like me.

i do it with red onions and ramps when season. i like the salt vinagar frechen up deal:emoji_ok_hand:

Just over a month later and I just placed my 6th cucumber in this jar. I can't believe how well this is working but will keep it up until it works no more.

I do the same thing. But I add a tsp or so of vinegar. And a pinch of salt to keep the PH happy.
I was just thinking last night about adding to the jar I made last week . They went to fast , or I gave to many away .

So add cukes to the cold brine and beef up the vinegar and salt ?
These are fridge pickles .

This is another jar that is almost out of pickles. You can see the Famous Dave's Spicy Dill has a lot of garlic and hot peppers in the brine. I just measured the PH and it is exactly 4.5. I just take an ordinary cucumber, wash it and cut off thee ends, cut it in half then each half into quarters. By the time you add the whole cucumber it is filled back to the top.

I used the jar above and decided to make thick slices instead of spears. After three days I am loving them. So thick and crunchy.

Now my only problem is I have to buy new cucumbers every time I go grocery shopping.

I did add a little bit of RO water to top it off after adding the slices.

OK, I am up late but got a little hungry.

Here is a 1/4 chicken torta (not made by me but so good), a slice of the pickle as well as a few chips and my home made ranch that is so good.

I can sleep well tonight.

Yeah , but it's way cheaper .
I just reused mine last week . Plus made up another couple jars and a jar of brine to top things off .
