I really love the Famous Dave's Spicy Dill Pickles with Garlic but they only come in slices. I would really like them as spears.

Last week I finished off a jar and the little lightbulb dimly lit up above my head. I took a cucumber and cut it into spears and shoved them into the jar instead of tossing it. I put it in the fridge and waited a week to see how they would turn out.

Way better than I could have hoped for. The brine was strong enough that it tastes the same as the slices but is even better in the spear form. Now I will have to test how many times I can do this until it doesn't work anymore.

I do that the same with onion slices, I love pickled red onion.
I drop in a few black pepper corns and fill up the jar with sliced onoins.
My homemade pickle brines is good, but not great. So using leftover brine from piçkles really helps.

"keep going till dont work anymore". lmao you sound like me.

i do it with red onions and ramps when season. i like the salt vinagar frechen up deal:emoji_ok_hand:

Just over a month later and I just placed my 6th cucumber in this jar. I can't believe how well this is working but will keep it up until it works no more.

I do the same thing. But I add a tsp or so of vinegar. And a pinch of salt to keep the PH happy.
I was just thinking last night about adding to the jar I made last week . They went to fast , or I gave to many away .

So add cukes to the cold brine and beef up the vinegar and salt ?
These are fridge pickles .

That's what I do. Just for safety. And it keeps the flavor level where I like it.
I like mine at 4.2-4.5 ph. All the pickles I make go in the fridge.

I just checked . Mine says 4.2 . So might just leave it alone this time , but if I don't stop sipping on it I won't have enough ! Pickle juice saves me in the hot weather .

Lol! I'm very guilty of doing that. I buy jugs of pickle juice to sip on. And for night cramps.
