Been reading a lot got some ribs, 5 hams and a butt under my belt with good to real good results. Planning on a prime rib (boneless). Critique my plan.

This afternoon open rinse dry PR. Season SOGP vac seal overnight. 5.4lb. Pretty thick almost Sq per say.
Start 10 am. New yrs day fire up wood smoker while PR sets out for hour or so room temp.
Put in smoker 11:30ish.
Smoke fat up to 135 IT using mav 733 @ 220F hoping for finish around 5-6pm.
Rest till 7pm. Put in hot oven to crisp up finishing up other dishes.
serve 730.

Does timing sound right?
Do I need to tie like the pics I've seen on here?
other suggestions welcomed.

The timing sounds pretty good to me, if anything it won't take that long to cook.

But since your putting it in an oven to finish it up, if it gets done early it won't matter.

Since it is boneless, yes I would tie it up. I think it will cook more evenly.

Good luck!

Thanks AL. Probably won't work out on timing to early.seems like I'm always running late anyway.

Sounds like a Pretty good Attack Plan.

Sounds a little long---A 5.4 pound PR should take about 4--4.5 hours at 220° Smoker Temp.

Here's a couple PRs---One in a Pan & One Not in a Pan:

the name has changed to L&P bold steak sauce.  If you cant find that others might chime in on ways to thicken.

Mixed A1 and worsterchire SOGP vac sealed going in fridge.
