I have an Auber PID WSD 1500 H-W and was wondering what input to adjust to make it not start “feathering “ back the element until it gets closer to Setpoint?
Yeah I know I'm working through mine same issue just I have no timeOlaf, thanks for the reply. Once it gets to setpoint it holds great, but for instance, when I was smoking sausage Tuesday it was moving from 155 to 165 and was at 20% to 70% most of the time. It took over half an hour to get to 165. I just think it would be at 100% output until it got closer to setpoint. Maybe a 10 degree change in setpoint isn’t enough to make it think it needs to use 100% output?
It will go from 110 to 130 in just a few minutes.
Here are my P I D settings if it helps
Awesome I did snack sticks a couple weeks ago big hit at work now I need to make more. I had been following your smoker build looks nice. I just ran mine at similar settings and it worked out good. My smoker is smaller but went from 44 to 160 in 25 minutes it began to cycle got to 165 at 29 minutes went as high as 171 be for drifting back down. By lowering the P value it starts to act more like a straight on off control. I don't have time to see how acts over time good luckThanks Olaf. I’ll change it and check it out on my next days off. I’m sure I can find something to throw in there!!!
12 lbs of snack sticks in now and it’s on its last step and almost to temp on the sticks.
This can be confusing . To " raise " proportional gain , you would lower the value of P .You can raise your proportional gain (P)

Not confusing for me , just saying for someone trying to set up an Auber controller on a electric smoker . To increase gain getting to set temp you would lower the value of P .
My smoker is one I built so I’m sure there is going to be some bumps in the road at first. Not sure what smoker you have . Maybe I missed it . Here's some good info on an Auber used with an MES . I talk bout how I set mine up with an MES 30 starting with post 9 and 13 .
