It's pretty cool. Lots of differents meats and such. My dad used to go there for their smoked ham and smoked blind robin. I loved the blind robin. But man. was it salty. Though, I didn't see that there. Might not have it anymore. Or, it was someplace else.
I'm definitely going to try out the store. Have you been to Liehs and Steigerwald in Syracuse? If not, you should.

The pickled sausage I made got icky. All the fat started to leak out. The hot dogs however were perfect so I am sticking to them for now. Bonus points is they are cheaper. That said, hitting the eggs HARD lately. Posting a new thread so not to clutter this one.

That can happen. Did you add the sausage to hot brine? Or cold?
For hot dogs. I use Glazier red hot dogs if I can find them. Or order.

I think Oscar Meyer beef franks are excellent for picking

Missed this thread.
My friend from Elmira introduced me to pickled sausage. Very tasty.
He's Polish. I taught him how to grind and make fresh sausage for his Italian wife.

Never heard of it, odd but interesting. Does the sausage need to be cured? Does it sit on the counter like pickles can or does it need to be refrigerated? There’s no way to describe it or compare it to anything is there?
I would compare it to pickled turkey gizzards, but that is something very rarely found, too.

Tried both ways and both failed but yeah cold brine took longer to fail. Might not be that big a deal to some but was not into it. Yeah tried to find those before but no dice. I like the jumbos from GFS. Also plan on running bologna chunks. If you got time try either smoking or grilling the dogs before pickling. Never seen anyone do that. Could be big.

At least they have a purpose somewhere! I hate them otherwise.
I prefer them over other cheap brands like Armour or Ball Park.

If im throwing some on the grill, I prefer Glaziers followers by Hofmanns.
