Oh boy I did it now.

I was using a friends meat thermometer and I left the probe in the pork. Went back to check the temp , went to go pull the probe out of the meat and the darn end on the probe as melted.  The thermo still works but I'm not getting a reading from the probe.  Questions I have is the end connection that goes in the thermo, are they all the same size?   I can't tell what kind of thermo this is - of course that would be to easy.

I don't know about all therms but I have an ET-732 and an ET-73 and the probes won't interchange.

I've never seen one like that. There's no identifying name/marks on it anywhere? Maybe in the battery compartment?

I have looked everywhere on this unit. There is no name, no serial number, nothing. I called my buddy and he said it was a gift to him.  I will still be looking for a new probe or a new thermo for him.

The only thing to identify it...is possibly go on Amazon...and browse thru their therms to find the right one or something close.

Electric therms use different "bi metals" to determine the temps using resistance... type "J" "K" etc...   That therm looks like it has a rubber coating on the probe wire....   Not intended for high temp areas....  High temp therms usually have a braided SS outer covering.....

I have that therm. Is just a holiday season gift pack item from target, sears, etc. You know, next to the flasks, wallets, self locating key chain type of garbage. I think I paid $10 for it in an after Christmas sale, normally twenty bucks. I suspect IF you could find a new probe, the cost would exceed the value of the unit.

Thank you for the heads up. I'll propaply end up purchasing a new therm as a replacement.
