While we've had no complaints about the meats I've smoked with the Roughneck smoker purchased last Labor Day weekend, I've suspected that the Tell-Tru thermometer is not accurate. Most of my cooks have finished earlier than anticipated. I also wanted a multi probe thermometer that I can monitor cooks from a distance.
The Fireboard app has a learning curve for me, but I really like having the ambient probe and multiple meat probes with alerts. Everything worked great. I also like adding notes and pictures to the session in the app.
The test cook was 2 pork tenderloins and a few chicken thighs that we had for supper tonight and a roll of breakfast sausage.
The Tel-tru was much less accurate than I expected. It was off 20-60° throughout the cook. I didn't calibrate the meat probes, but they were dead on with the Thermopen instant read. Im going to really like the Fireboard 2.
