Northern Tool has the #12 Kitchener electric grinder on sale for $89.99, and their 5 pound stainless steel vertical stuffer on sale for $84.99.  Both are on a three day sale through 12/5/2012 (with free shipping to your local store if they are out there).

I just got their latest sale circular in the mail and it has the $20 off $100 purchase, $10 off $50 purchase and $5 off $15 purchase.  Might be time to dip the toes into sausage making.  Just need to buy $10 worth of more items to get the grinder for 79.99 and then use other coupon to get the stuffer for $74.99.

From the photos the stuffer has plastic gears, but there are posts in SMF on where to get metal replacements for them.

Odd thing is I was just at the store today thinking of making meatloaf this week.  They had ground pork for $3.99 a pound and shoulders for $1.99 (even less at the local Sam's Club).  That is a good incentive to grind your own even if I don't stuff it.  I also bought two beef chuck roasts for $1.49 a pound (marked down as they "expire" tomorrow).  Some people would call this a sign.....

I just checked that link and it's showing $79.95 for me.  Was it showing $65 for you today?  I've heard some websites were going to start targeting pricing based on your cookie cache.  Not sure if it's just no longer on sale for $65 or you have a golden cookie?

I think I'm heading to the local Northern store Tuesday AM to "help" the kids figure out what they should get me for Christmas this year.

I think the $65 was a Black Friday to Cyber Monday sale... http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/130897/grizzly-5lb-stuffer-64-95

That's still less than the Northern and I believe they are the exact same stuffer and I think they are the same as the LEM which costs almost twice as much. I have not compared them in person but the pictures all look exactly the same except the name on them.

Blast it!  The home boss

has officially nixed any more tools until after New Year's.  I dunno if she has any ideas on what I want for Christmas but Grinder ans Stuffer would be towards the top of the list.

Well hopefully that's why she nixed it, so she can get them for you!

The LEM has metal gears & some come with stainless steel stuffing tubes but a lot of people have used the plastic gears for years with no problems - you just can't go crazy cranking on it...

Does anybody know what the screw shaft size and threads are on these?

Reason I ask is, why not just thread a nylock nut onto the top of the shaft as a stop to keep from bottoming out the plunger and stressing the nylon gears?  Nylon insert in the nut would hold it in place but not make it impossible to adjust.  Same thing as using a jamb nut, just more elegant, but that's assuming you can get a nylon lock nut the right size/thread.

Its odd......I am looking at that stuffer on the Grizzly site and the price does say 79.95 but if I look at the bottom of the page where it shows "recently viewed items" the price is crossed out with 64.95 under it.  When I add the grinder to my cart it goes in at 79.95.

Maybe you could call and say "hey what's going on here" and they will give you the sale price being they are showing it.

Grizzly shipping is $14 so that put's it back up to $80 delivered with no sales tax even if I get the $65 sale price (which may or may not still be valid).   Local Northern store (5 miles away) does not stock the stuffer, but if I order it online and use the $10 off $50 purchase coupon code, with tax and free shipping to local store it's $80 and some change.

Got a 5 pound chuck roast in the oven, and about to head out to pick up a Kitchener grinder for $69 after my $20 discount card!!!!! ($74.89 with local sales taxes and the store has them in stock).   Will probably order the stuffer online when I get back home and that should give me the pair for around $155 including sales taxes.

Now I just have to look at those two boxes under the tree and know I can't open them until Christmas.... sigh.....

PS - I can't get the $65 Grizzly price to show up anywhere on their web page for me. Must have something to do with your cookies and a prior visit to the page?  Did you pull it up previously when it was on sale?  I suspect that is it as the "recently viewed" price would have been the $65 which appears to have expired.

Got the Kitchener grinder for $69 after the discount today.  Just ordered the 5 pound stuffer online (not stocked in our local Northern store) and will get it for $74.99.

Not a bad deal at all, both for under $150 total.

Now I just have to get working on the warmer conversion project.

Good deals on some quality merchandise.

Yeah, made in China.  Yeah, not the heavy duty stuff.

But for the average guy, it will serve very well at a very reasonable price!

Good luck and good smoking.
