  1. I'm glad to join. I've a new comer to smoking and was handed an old Westinghouse refer. It's about 5' tall 24" wide and 24" deep. I've been reading some posts and looking forward to making an electric smoker. So many pieces to choose from. I've got some mechanical abilities, I always say 'I know enough to be dangerous'. I'm looking for all controls to be on the outside of the cabinet and as automatic as possible. I'll post a photo when I actually have it in my possession. Thanks for your help ahead of it.

  3. Thanks, looking forward to meeting new friends. I'm new and not familiar with the lingo. Q-view? Subscription? How do I find a past post? I saw one about building from scratch a elect. smoker now I can't seem to find it. Here is a photo of my refer.

[IMG]to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! There are several members here that have converted old Fridges into smokers.

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

  16. Finished sanding and most of the rust is gone. I found out that my refrigerator is a 1932 Westinghouse model D-54. In insulation spread to be either a splintered wood product or ??? Next step work on replacing plastic parts with metal and re-assembling.
