Hello everyone,
My name is Bryce from McFarland, CA and I have come to this fine place to get some more advice on smoking meat and building a RF smoker.
I'm not new to smoking and grilling, but I am looking into refining my techniques to make the best BBQ I can. I was gifted a stainless steel Cabela's vertical propane smoker from my grandpa, who bought it, used it once, and was done with it. Three years ago, I wanted to do something different from burgers, dogs, and tri-tip for July 4th, so I took out the old propane smoker (and with a little help from Alton Brown's BBQ special) put out a pretty good Boston Butt. Ever since then I've become more and more interested in perfecting the craft.
With a little lurking around the web for info, I think it has been time to upgrade from the Cabela's (super thin walls, not insulated, leaks) to something bigger and better. I have the welding skills to build my own, so I want to take the time and learn some tricks to building a great reverse flow smoker.
I'm looking forward to learning from everyone here and will keep you guys informed on my build that I want to do in 2014.
-Bryce
