What's up guys ... Name is butch from philadelphia. I've been reading in this forum for a year or so since my wife bought me my MES for bday present. I love the idea of smoking food outside all year round with a nice cold colors light in 1 hand and a stogie in another. Unfortunately my wife is hating the fact that she bought me this cause I'm such a newb I don't know squat and I'm out there for hours and hours. My biggest challenge with smoking was ... Well....THE SMOKE.... My MES didn't produce enough smoke.
I have a pork loin all rubbed up in my fridge and was gonna smoke today with the purchase of my A-maze-n smoker thing.... Problem is my pellets aren't coming til Monday... WTF
Can I use chips in there? Can pellets be purchase in retail stores? I'm really looking forward to actually tasting real smoked food!!!
Also I MES just has a door with a latch an no vent. Do you guys recommend modifying it and putting a vent on the top for airflow?
I will prob flood this forum with tons of questions this summer ... I want people to love eating the food I smoke... I cooked some chicken in there last year and I F'd it up so bad it was so dry .... The guy on QVC made it look so easy!!
