New purchase advice

Hi everyone. I looked through all the old posts but didn't see anything quite like this. I was hoping to get some advice from owners who have used these units.

I am looking at purchasing a new pellet smoker. I have a weber genesis grill so I don't need a grilling feature. American made is definitely important to me. Here are the grills I have narrowed it down to.

I added this electric smoker to the mix because it got such great reviews.

I thought about the Masterbuilt but I don't think that is fully made in the USA.

I have left off the PG500 because I am not too keen on the limited smoking space due to the dedicated grilling space.

I look forward to all the input. Thank you all in advance for the advice.

I've used 3 different models of smokin brothers. Went to Missouri in Jan and competed in a comp hosted by them and they gave us a premier 30. Heavy duty smokers and they use a Savannah stoker pid

That's the premier 30 behind us and some of the Q we made. Placed 4th in ribs

Great smokers and the owner of the company is a cool dude. They stand behind their smokers big-time. I've also used the 72 and 36. The 72 is huge but pretty expensive

That looks like some mighty fine Q! The only thing pushing me away from smokin brothers is the lack of tech. I am slightly attracted to the wifi capability but at the same time, I don't know how useful that will be in actuality. Do you or anyone else you know have experience with controlling the grill via wifi?

It looks like the obvious omission from your list are the offerings from Rec Tec. It looks like the RT-700 model would be in line with the units you're comparing currently. Do a little searching/browsing and you'll find that they get a tremendous reputation from owners around these parts and others. I'm eye-balling one to replacement GMG DB WiFi as we speak. Waiting for a "deal" enticing enough to pull the trigger but probably on the smaller brother the RT-590.

Just in case you didn't have enough to consider with that list you already created. :emoji_laughing:

He said he wanted American made. OP I would make my selection between the P&S and the Mak. Both are american made and you really can't go wrong with either one. I have a Timberline 1300 and the WiFi is a really nice feature but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me and I think several of the ones you mentioned offer a WiFi option, including the P&S.

I was definitely coming down to the Mak 2 star as a top pick. The yoder is out because of all the paint issues. I know my wife would absolutely hate that. I had knocked the P&S off the list because it looked like intimidating but I keep hearing from owners of P&S how amazing they are. P&S owners are the most passionate out there. I can't really find too much as far as owner reviews for the Mak.

At any rate, I think it might be down to the Mak, P&S, and the smokin brothers. Down to 3! Progress!

I looked at all three when I was making my choice. The P&S ended being my first choice, I wasn't sure how I would like the front hopper on the Smokin Bros and like you, I couldn't find that much on the Mak. I really like the features on the P&S, especially the way the front hinges. I ended getting the Timberline because I was offered a deal that was just too good to pass up. I have been very happy with it but wish it was American made.
