Good thing you posted that because I only have 3 hairs left and I was getting ready to flip a coin to see which one to pull out first

No really.. I think I am about to get it. I went ahead and purchased VbPortal today which I think will get use the best of all worlds.

It will allow us to have the side columns on the home page as well as on the forums area (where it shows all of the various sections).

The side columns are important since that is the best place for the scroller (which I think I have figured out.. everyone cross your fingers).

Side columns are also a great place to put links for easy access and other data like who is online, etc..

I will need to turn the forum off for a few minutes to make the move.. the main area of the forums needs to move to a folder called /forum/ since the portal will end up being the main index page that you come to when you enter www.SmokingMeatForums.com.

I don't like all of these changes either but I think it is better to get it right here on the front end rather than wait on down the road and find out that we are too far to turn back without major repercussions.

So.. the board will go down at 6:30 PM and should be available at http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/ within 15 minutes or so depending on if I run into any problems.

I hope to have the scroller and the portal layout completed late tonight pending everything going as it should.

Wha' happened??? This moring while I was on the Forum I could see the Smileys and tonight all I'm seeing are little boxes with a red X in it. I'm wondering if the move may have had something to do with it. I've noticed that the OTBS logo is a red X too.

I think maybe Jeff found some cyber pot holes in the changes he was making. They must have got shaken loose. Maybe he'll pick em up next time around the block later this evening.

After the site came back, I wasn't able to view anything on the forums. All I got was a blank page. I ended up clearing out the cookies and the temp folder to get everything back. Of course I had to sign back in after doing that. If anyone else has this problem in the future, keep that in mind.
