My name is Gene I am married with 4 children. I like hunting & fishing & spending time with my family. I have never owned a smoker. A guy I work with does it all the time so I decided to build one!! I joined hoping to gain some knowledge of the art of smoking from the people on here!!!!! Also to get some help with my project!!! I'm looking to convert a 100gal drum into a smoker. We'll see how that goes if it goes well I have a 250gal fuel drum I might work on this winter!!!

Hello Gene, and welcome to the best smokin' site on the net, SMF that is. Always room for another family orientated sportsman.

Welcome Gene from Evansville, IN.

I also have a 250 gal fuel tank that I wanted to make into a smoker. After searching around this site, it's kind of gotten me scared off from doing it. Most feel that the fuel oil cannot be burned or cleaned off and could be potentially harmful. I'm sure the level of toxins would be relatively low and wouldn't kill anyone off anytime soon. Everybody's gone to die of something someday anyway, so I'm not sure what to do with the tank.
