New guy with a new smoker! (mods and q-vue)

Just got it on Friday and smoked 2 times +seasoning, and added a few mods.  I should be able to get this puppy figured out by the time next summer rolls around.

Welcome to the forums John, Good to see you jumpin right into the smokin thing. I use the same smoker (or very similar one) with the same mods and have had good luck with it. I prefer to burn splits of wood with it. you will get a hotter smoker temp and less ash in the fire box.

Make sure you have another thermometer so you can check the accuracy of that built in thermometer. A lot of times they are way off and that will throw you a curve ball when you think you are smoking at one temp and you are actually at another temp. You are going to have lots of fun with your new toy.

First off Welcome John to SMF. you'll like it here for there are alot of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking. Now there are alot of proven recipes for some amazing things here too. So if you need sign up for the E-Course it's free and it will give you the basics of smoking and some good methods to use also. So the next big thing for you to do is go out and get you something to smoke and if you happen to have any questions just post it here and we will be happy to answer them for you.
