Hello everyone, great forum here, and I've searched and read threads over the past years, but never joined...so I decided today would be a good day to do so!
I'm Greg, I'm in NE Texas, been smoking meats for the past 15 years or so, and as you all know, it's truly a craft that you have to learn as you go, and grow in knowledge, experience, etc. I love cooking (especially meat!), and am the primary cook in our little home. Just me and the wife by now for the most part, but I volunteer to smoke for family gatherings round holidays, reunions, etc...so I smoke a fair amount of food.
My weapons of choice are a large BGE I scrimped and saved for back in 2009, (I use the adjustable rig for that, and that was a game-changer for me) and a newly acquired Masterbilt Electric 30". I also have an Orion cooker, and while it's kind of a neat deal, I've just never "bonded" with it. I just can't call it "smokin". Probably just me, but I'm funny like that.
I look forward to conversing, getting a bunch of new know-how (the MES is wearing me out), and hopefully I'll be able to be a contributor to this great place.
I guess that's it for now. I'm off to post my first thread!
Thanks!
G
