I lit my 18" smoke tube and let it burn for a few minutes on the granite block I use to light the tube and maze on. While it burned a bit, I got a phone call, see where this is going?

While on the phone, without paying attention, I grabbed the tube to move it into the big vertical... I grabbed it on the LIT end! :help:

Instant 2nd degree burns! I rinsed the fingers under cool water, slathered them with mustard to help with the burn pain, and then put on some aloe. Bandaged up and went back to the smoker....

That is why I keep a welding glove at the door that leads to the smokers! I feel your pain!

Oh yeah don't use your wife's oven mitts, the pain she will inflict upon you when she finds the dirty mitt is worse than burning your hand!

Ouch....I too keep a pair of tig welding gloves in the can that I have some of my grilling in. Please keep an eye open for infection....hope you heal quickly....

First I have ever heard of using Mustard on a burn...Thanks for the info...

I know EXACTLY what your saying. I had the imprint of my smoke tube on the palm of my hand and fingers.  Took it out of the smoker using an oven mitt set it on the grill, took mitt off to open the pellets container to refill it and then grabbed the tube

. The bad thing is I didn't feel it right away, due to the numerous jack and cokes I had consumed. The Pellets container is now opened before the tube comes out.

The mustard trick is a new one on me. Does it really work? I use a silver cream on my burns, and mustard would be a bunch cheaper.

Burning one finger is bad enough, but a whole hand full !   One thing that I'll bet comes out if this, you wont ever do it again.

Heal up quick

I assure all of you, I won't do it again!

The vinegar in the yellow mustard help to take the burning sensation away, it doesn't do much for the blistering as far as I know. Before I put band aids on, I put on some silvadene cream, it works really well!

As for the cold one, I only used the cold can for its cooling properties on the fingers. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! :sausage:
