Eddie Welcome to SMF from the freezing east LOL the search bar is a very good tool. For your smoker check the MES Group page.

I recommend getting a Maverick, or any other type of probe to monitor the CC Temp. You may also want to check on an AMNPS for cold smoking in the 80* F LOL.

Lots of friendly people all willing to help,so don;t be afraid to ask a question.

i second tropic's advice.

my maverick tells me my mes is always 15 degrees higher than what  it reads.

 good to know.

i've never used the hopper with chips so i don't know how good that works. i use the maze with pellets on the  advice of these folks'

i'm happy with that for both hot n cold smokes.

Either way, a GREAT thermometer makes a significant difference. I realize the Maverick ET-732/733 are the stAndards for cook chamber remote measurement. I have one but was not overly impressed initially but.... It has helped me turn out some incredible q. Then a few people I know tried the iGrill2.

Yikes! This unit has caught my eye and I bought one for my son and mine is now on order as well. So far it gets a big thumbs up. For what it's worth. It is rather accurate in boiling water. 212 on the nose

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
because their are so many different ways to make great Q...
Happy smoken.
