Hi All,

Just thought I'd share some pictures from my build.

Having never built a smoker and having never welded anything remotely this big, I think it's coming along ok so far.....

Did some rough designs in Sketchup.

Cooking chamber is 24" x 60" (or 600mm x 1500mm for those from around here). On the other side of the cooking chamber, there will be a prep bench that will have a HDPE cutting board and fire wood storage underneath. In front of that is the storage for my other passion - Home Brew. Two corny kegs and a jockey box for serving.

A mate gave me an old, rusty 6'x4' box trailer, so I promptly removed the side and the floor. The chassis is still in pretty good nick.

Next, I started work on the prep bench and wood storage.

Then, picked up the pipe and got it mounted to the trailer.

The following day, the laser cutter dropped off all of the parts for the firebox, so I tacked the firebox together.

Made the firebox door

These are the cooking chamber hinges I had laser cut.

That's it for now.......

Welcome to SMF,  Definitely looks like you have a good start on it. How big will it be when you are done? Are you working off of a plan of existing unit? Keep up with the pics and the build. Congrats and will be waiting for more pics, especially when the food comes out of the end product....

Welcome to SMF!

That's going to be quite a smoker!

Would you swing by "Roll Call" & introduce yourself, so we can all welcome you to SMF!

I used the pipe size as the basis for the rest of the measurements. Put everything into the Feldon calculator and went from there. Firebox is 560mm x 560mm x 520mm (sorry I'm from Australia and can't be bothered doing the math to get to inches!) cooking chamber is 600mm x 1500mm. The rest of the frame I just made up as I went

Made a fair bit of progress today - 4 day weekend here in Australia!!

Cut the cooking chamber door and welded the hinges on. I got a little bit of spring, so will have to take care of that later.

Got the fire box finished and mounted to the cooking chamber

Also got the guides for the R/F plate welded in and the drain sorted out. Hopefully no too much longer before I can fire it up!!!

I've been a bit slack with the updates, but I'm slowly chipping away at this thing....

Cooking grates done

Chimney on. I found some stainless pipe in the scrap bin at work. Score!

It's just a standard RF offset. We've already cooked on it several times including a couple of comps and catering gigs

The keg box is just a dead chest freezer with all of the electrics removed and clad in timber. It can fit two corny kegs and a co2 bottle and a heap of ice to keep them cool.
