I just bought these 5 pieces of metal, and had them cut to fit my SNP for the tuning heat plates.Should I have punch/drill holes into these for better air / smoke circulation? I have seen everyone's modification and they are all different. This is for my Brinkman SNP. I just purchased the Maverick ET-733 Dual Probe this weekend for $39 with free shipping can't wait to recieve it this week.

Oh is it really important to have the chimney stack have a extension to the grills. The guy's at Barbeque Galore store say no.What should I do and why?

Hey Mitchell......

When I built my horizontal smoker, the guy I went to for my exhaust info does air flow for a living. His thought was......hot smoke comes in one side and being hot, rises to the top and out the other side. Having the exhaust start at grate height means the heat and smoke must get down to where the meat is before leaving. A short piece of flex drier vent pipe stuffed into your vent and down to your grate height will tell you if it works in yours.

Now, that being said, there are "many" ideas on what is the best way to run your vent......and this site has many pit masters with great ideas to help you.
