In the Colorado mountains
My wife left me earlier this month with my birthday being today. Just me and my dog here to celebrate a very lonely day. Oh, I don't mean she left me for good. She is in MA visiting the daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids. I stayed home to keep the dog company.

Anyways, I figure that officially I'm a year older I would treat myself. Made some bacon and french toast for breakfast, nothing special really but I normally just have a bowl of Total and a banana, so just a bit special. For dinner I picked up a ribeye.

I'm a simple country boy with simple tastes. Grew up on home cooked meals, nothing fancy. Toss in 26 years in the Navy, and that chow is nothing to write home about. I seasoned the steak with coarse ground black pepper and sea salt and tossed it on the grill at 550 degrees for a minute or so on each side to get a good sear. Turn the heat down on low and did each side for 3-4 minutes. Comes out med to med well every time, just the way I like it. For the side a can of Bush Beans, original. A can of beer and I was in heaven. My dog even watched me the whole time, which he never does as I have never fed him from the plate. Probably why he always watches my wife eat and not me. Guess I was the only show on this evening.

Anyways, if you are still reading, here is the one and only pic. Again, nothing fancy but mighty fine vittles!

Happy birthday man!

Have you reached the grumpy old man stage yet?
If you ask my wife she will say I reached the grumpy old man stage when the first grandchild came around. To be honest, I didn't want to be around them until the could walk, talk, and wipe their butt effectively. But to answer your question, yes, I reached the grumpy old man stage some time ago. I feel I've earned it after the life I've had up to this point. Too much hard work since I was a kid. Retired life fits me just fine, though.

Hard to beat a steak dinner and Happy Belated Birthday!
And I was so sad when I read the first 2 lines 🤣 .
But I working on a good country song now. Thanks for the inspiration 😆
