I get them every once in awhile.....I finally purchased several cans of expanding foam and filled up every hole I could find....even the smallest crack.

I do not mind the mice getting in......it's the snakes that follow that freak me out!!

LOL! There is no way I could live in the house with a snake.....I'm just now getting brave enough to walk through the house in the middle of the night with my shoes off.

Definetly don't use poison, unless it's inside a containment trap. I had an issue with them about two years ago. Use snap traps w/PB and put them along their path - along baseboards or anywhere you see their droppings. Plus you gotta get some expansion foam and find out how they're getting in and seal those gaps up.

Containment traps are really cool - you can get them at Lowes and Home Depot. It's basically a box with a hole in one side that appears to go out to the other side. Only there's a spring loaded plate inside the hole. When they walk across it, it flips them over into a storage compartment where you keep the poison. They eat the poison and die, right there in the box where they're easy to find. Here's a link to one that looks kinda like mine, but mine's plastic. They're supposed to be for "humanely" catching mice, but I'm more for actually ending the problem - so that's where the poison comes in :) The cool thing about these is that they catch 5 or 6 of them at a time without you having to reset it every time. The mechanism that flips them into the box is wind-up, so it'll catch a bunch of them before it's full.

Here's a link to the Victor page with their tips... what's the #1 bait they list for both mice and rats? That's right - peanut butter.

Stupid rodents...

gonna stink to high heaven if they die in your walls and start to decompose. I lived in a 100+ house before and used decon, oh boy what an experience. glad I didn't own the house. I lived next to a hay field and would get invaded every time it got disked. Glue traps work the best for me. I caught 5 on one of the big ones in one night.
