Hi all, just joined the forum today and look forward to all of the advice everyone has to offer. I am currently using an mes 30 with an amnps. While smoking a butt today, the smoker threw out an error and threw out an error and shut down. It appeared as though condensation had built up on top of the smoker and got under the control pad. When I wiped it up it had a oily or almost fuel smell to it. Has anyone ever encountered this?

I don't have a MES, but I'll bump this thread back up to the top for ya. Someone will chime in.

I have a Mes 40 and never heard of that. What kind of weather for condensation? How long did it take to happen? Fuel smell? Was this the first smoke in it?

I'm in MN, it was -17 when I started. I have had several smokes in it, at least one other at below zero temps. I noticed it about 4 hours in. I didn't use a water pan since I was using an amnps. I took off the control panel to wipe up the fluid, and it seemed as if it had come up from under the panel. Maybe through the hole that houses the wiring. It sort of smelled like manufacturing/machine oil.

Is the controller on the top rear of the smoker, infront with bluetooth or infront with RF remote? Mines the Gen 1 top rear but sounds like you have one of the others.

I would call MB, they have very good Customer service!
Al

Will do, glad to hear they have good customer service. I thought I'd check here fitst since they're only open Monday through Friday.

Mine is also the Gen 1, with the controller on the top back. I gave it another try and it seems to be working just fine now. I'll give them a call tomorrow just to see what they have to say. Maybe it was just a bit too cold out yesterday.

With the controller on top it sounds like nothing went up the underside where the cables tuck into the controller. Hopefully it's just the -17 temp.
