Anyone know of another app that might be able to connect easier and possibly get it onto a wi-fi network?

It usually takes about 5 tries to connect to the smoker and then when walk about 20 feet away it will disconnect and then you basically have to unload the app and reload to connect to it again. Totally worthless if you can't walk away from it.

Thanks, Mike

hi sir,the answer is NO i never found an other app but have you try to connect it close to the smoker? You know why im asking you this?Because i think it may be a Phone problem or your smoker too because i have it and the only problem i found is when you go a little bit far from the unit and the Bluetooth goes crazy and let rise up the temperature to 300°F with no reasons.

Hi there and welcome folks!

I think you are seeing what it seems 99% of the MES Bluetooth users are seeing. The Bluetooth app and stuff is reported to basically not work.
This seems to be a known problem that Masterbuilt seems to have never addressed which sucks because that is a big selling point to people who buy the MES with that feature.

Also know that the MES smoker and meat temp probes are basically horrible as well. They are pretty much guaranteed to be off so the 1st purchase an MES owner usually makes is to buy a good wireless dual probe (or more probes) Thermometer. 1 probe for measuring the actuall smoker temp at meat level and the other to stab into the meat and get an accurate Internal Temp (IT) of the meat.

Best of luck with things guys and once you learn the shortcomings of the MES and your work-arounds you will be making great BBBQ in no time! :)

you right!!! the internal temp probe and the meat probe on my MES bluetooth have 15/20°f of difference for this reason i bought a Thermopro tp20 and now everything is amazing

Yep, and the next purchase an MES owner makes is usually the A-Maze-N Pellet Smoker (AMNPS) so they can burn pellets for up to 12hrs+ or so.

Once you have an AMNPS the debate is whether to place it in the unit or make a mailbox mod. I think I'm seeing a trend where the MES 30" guys don't get good behavior out of the AMNPS inside the unit where the MES 40" guys can. More reports or investigation is needed. I personally do a mailbox mod for many reasons even though I'm an MES40 guys.

The main thing is that the setup works and produces good bbq, who cares what is done to make that happen :)
