Mastrbuilt 40" DOA

So when your fancy new smoker died within minute of setting it up, you get a sinking feeling. Then when Masterbuilt sends you a brand new controller, you feel great! Then 2 1/2 hours of unplugging and restarting the thing while trying to smoke some baby backs, you get that old feeling again. Then its dead again! The nice person on Facebook keeps promising that someone from management will be calling me right away to make everything good, up again! Then after 4 days of no calls, back down. So, the rollercoaster continues. I hope Masterbuilt monitors this forum.....me no happy!!

Sorry to hear about the bad luck... This may sound dumb but have you been plugging it into the same plug in. The reason I ask is when I had an mes 30 the thing worked great.... But there was one plug in the garage that would always shut off the mes 30. The house was built in the 70s and had the old non grounded plugs. Since then I have remodeled and rewired with new plug ins... Although I don't have the mes anymore I always have wondered if it would shut off. Probably not the issue you are having... But food for thought

Also sorry to hear of your troubles. Customer service was very nice and responsiveness when I needed them. Keep after them, I'm sure they will make it right. And I would bet they are attached to this form somehow. Good luck !

I'm an MES fan ,,, but I'm wondering why so many are having trouble with brand new units ?

Get on the phone ( maybe you have ) to contact them . E mails and face book makes it to easy to put you off .

Ive tried multiple outlets. When the magic smoke comes out of the controller, you know it's dead .

I'm a licensed airline mechanic and have done the troubleshooting from end to end. The controller is a cheap Chinese circuit board and simply fails ..i just hope Masterbuilt stands behind their product or else I have an expensive box sitting on the deck.
