Yeah those top openers never last long. I also got the side cut now but it is a bit harder to turn
I dunno. I am using an Oxo 'side cut' one now - just looked at my history on Amazon and it is going on 5y old. I think it gets a lot of use.Yeah those top openers never last long. I also got the side cut now but it is a bit harder to turn
Sounds like you were having about the same luck I was having with openers.I dunno. I am using an Oxo 'side cut' one now - just looked at my history on Amazon and it is going on 5y old. I think it gets a lot of use.

I guess maybe some don't last - I was shocked to find I'd ordered 5 can openers on Amazon - 2014, 2015, two at the same time in Dec 2016 - then this one in April 2020 and it is still going strong - the others all apparently died.
Of course - I've now jinxed myself and I have little doubt this Oxo is going to actually explode next time I open a can of dog food and I'll probably lose a couple of fingers and maybe an eye with it, in the bargain.![]()
Didn't see one you posted ? Do like the USAYep same one as I posted. We have 1 of them for each residence.
Forgot about the made in the USA and cheaper than the made in ? junk.

Yeah, this is the opener we have, but ours is right-handed.I dunno. I am using an Oxo 'side cut' one now - just looked at my history on Amazon and it is going on 5y old. I think it gets a lot of use.

Did you find the models with a long handle crank? Thanks Richie. Ordered one. Who would of thought opening cans was a deal but when you have bad hands.
I got to thinking about the one I have . It has to be 25 to 30 years old . Still works fine .Don't know if true or not but they say the side cut ( would prefer ) are harder on the cutting blades because of the thickness of the cans compared to top ???
Sorry John. I try my best to keep names straight around here but sometimes its hard. I just ordered a swing away off amazon. Thanks.Did you find the models with a long handle crank?
BTW, I'm John
Could be true, but we have had our side cut for about 3 years and zero negative issues. Although a lot of cans now have the pop top that are smaller. Not sure if you are opening large cans.?Don't know if true or not but they say the side cut ( would prefer ) are harder on the cutting blades because of the thickness of the cans compared to top ???
Oh boy, that would be my luck to get another clunkerI have had OXO normal cut for many years. A year or so ago it broke and I ordered another on Amazon. It's a piece of junk, loses grip on cans often. The older ones I loved because of the exact opposite. Mayce I just got a defective one but I now hate it.
