Anyone know where ya can get a left handed smoke shifter??? The guy at the store said I should just ask if someone had an extra one they could spare...

Ok seriously though, this weekend one of my buddies needs help learning how to use his smoker. We've already made some mods to his beast and I'm taking my little ole' ecb over to his place. We're throwin' some chicken 1/4s, 3 briskets, 2 #10 butts, fatties, atb, pig candy and of course a few racks of ribs between both smokers. Would anyone have a good mop or suggestions for the briskets???

Maybe 3 parts cherry juice to 1 part Captain Morgans Spiced Rum
Maybe 3 parts apple juice to 1 part Captain Morgans Spiced Rum
many things will work but I find myself coming back to these two most often

Well, with all of that meat going on the smoker I'd be sure to either clean or change the Knuton valve on each smoker.

Cherry/Apple juice and captain, that's it? So how much do you drink in between mopping???

He has a full chord of apple wood so I may go with the cherry/captn mix.

No help on the mop

But if I recall corectly , to get a left handed smoke shifter is a chalenging process . First , they only make right handed smoke shifters ( they only tell you that when you get to the commisary), Then one needs to get a several hundred foot length of wet / dry shore line . Then the aquisition of a sky hook is in order. Once all these are in place you can move the smoke shifter into place. Then there is a process of changing the NE bearings to a SW oreintation to turn the right handed model into the left handed version. There may actually be more steps involved , it's been a while since I tried to help get one set up

Brisket Mop

Beer & cider vinegar combined with a little worscheschire sauce. You might even want to put a little spice/rub in there for good measure.

I haven't seen a left handed smoke shifter, but I have seen a left handed pig flipper.

Yea I tend to keep my spritzes simple and as far as drinking that depends on how much spritz you make up. Whatever is left in the bottle after you make said spritz may go bad before you do more so I suggest consuming it just to make sure it doesn't go to waste

I AM SO SICK OF PEOPLE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF US "SOUTHPAWS"!!! MOST OF THE TIME ANYTHING LEFT-HANDED IS REALLY HARD TO FIND...........THEN WHEN YOU DO FIND THE ITEM YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IT'S MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE RIGHT-HANDED MODEL!!!! LAST YEAR I SPENT A VERY LONG TIME AND A LOT OF MONEY TO FIND A COUNTER-ROTATIONAL (LEFT-HANDED) WHISTLING PIN FOR A HUMMING SHAFT...

I think my wife was looking for the same exact thing last month!

So I've almost got everything for the left handed smoke shifter! I'm still looking around for the sky hook, but a guy at work helped me out with the wet/dry shore line.

Once I get this done, anyone know where I could get some snipes to smoke?

I hear they're pretty good eating!

I'm still not 100% sure what to do about the mop...I'm just not convinced to use one over another... And seriously, if anyone else has any more suggestions I would really appreciate it. What I didn't mention earlier was this is my first crack at brisket so I'm a bit nervous!

In any case, I will definitely be throwing a few pics up when I can...

Left Handed Shape Shifters are next the the "TR double E's and the High Speed Frequency Grease" in the Digitally Impaired section of Home Depot.

Good Luck with the smokeing and helping a friend from Sedalia, MO.
