Killer Dogs

As of this morning, Animal control has not found the owners or the dogs. They said they are more than likely close and have killed before. We are rural and not seen these dogs around.

On a lighter note, thought this was gonna be a thread of Rick running hot dogs. :emoji_laughing:

Yes, well fed with collars and killing for sport...untrained hunting breeds.
Could also be instinct. We had a lab mix and he got loose one day and killed my neighbors rabbits. He never showed any signs of aggression prior or after. Now growing up we had a beagle/terrier mix and that pup wouldn't let any strangers up our driveway.

Chris

Sorry that happened Rick, I’d shoot them too. Hope you find the owners, it’s honestly not the dogs fault… it’s piss poor ownership. Wife and kids volunteer at a dog shelter to walk them. They fell in love with one… just after our Black Lab Taz passed. That one crushed me, I loved my Tazzy girl.

For example, (said shelter dog) have a pit/heeler mix that we got as a rescue dog. Love him and I think he loves me… But have worked with him and he obeys commands when told. He will stand down when told too.

It comes down to owners being responsible and taking the time with dogs.

Again, so sorry that happened to you.

This happened yesterday morning.

This morning at 5:45a Two dogs got into my coop and killed 17 of my chickens. This happened on Berrytown Rd
If your the owner come forward.
If you know who owns the dogs please contact Hardin County Animal Control as they have all the pics and case number.
If your dogs come back to harm my chickens that are left.
I WILL NOT HESITATE TO SHOOT YOUR DOGS. YOUR DOGS KILLED 17 OF MY CHICKENS.
PER
KRS § 258.235: Allows any person to kill or seize a dog seen pursuing, wounding, or killing livestock or poultry, or attacking people, without legal repercussions.
Imminent Threat: The protection applies only when the dog is actively engaged in the harmful act.

Two more chickens dies this morning from injuries for a total of 19.

They ran and I managed to get off 3 shots of 3" #4 shot nitro mags. I hit one going up the back of the property. I dont think I killed one but its wounded as there was blood in back. So far nobody has come forward with info. Hardin County says I can file charges if they find the owners.

I'd be out for blood, I highly recommend ditching the #4 shot, and buying some
3" 4 - buck. I've smoked many Yote's at 70 yrds using it. And I mean flipped them 4' in the air. I have no problem at all protecting whats mine. A mod choke and 4buck are a deadly combo shot through all of my shotguns.

Highly agree. 41 pellets are pretty devastating to coyotes, hogs, and even deer at proper ranges. This is my home defense load.

My home defense load is 2 rnds of 1 1/16th Oz of nickle plated #5 shot, then 6 rnds of 1 5/8 oz of cooper plated 4buck.

I hope I never need to use it, but it's there if need be.

The dogs have not been back. Just the skunks I been eliminating now.

Got the coop all level (off 1/2 bubble) but they wont notice. New run put up now gotta tarp it and put some corrugated around the bottom.

You gotta do what you gotta do..sorry about the chickens.

On a different note! I sat on a jury this past summer where a rancher had 2 attacks on his sheep in the course of 3 weeks and wiped out 85% of his operation due to his negligent neighbor's dogs that he's been dealing with for the past 8 years, plenty of video and cam pics of the dogs. Had a total of 1 dead guard dog, 17 ewe's and 1 ram, he was charged and found guilty with 2 counts of felony vandalism, I was glad to put him away!!!! The owner did manage to shoot 1 of the dogs. When they showed the Sherriff's body cam and hear the chowderhead say that "dogs know no boundaries" was the last straw for me. Dogs know no boundaries when people don't train, maintain, and control your critters, and allow them to run free! I hope you catch them!!!

Protecting chickens is a full time job. We added an electric fence around the out side of our coop for when we are not home. It’s on a light switch

8 years of dealing with neighbors dogs causing issues...is 7 years and 11 months too long in my book! I love dogs, but I am responsible for my dogs actions.

Ryan

I doubt the chowder head will be able to cover restitution for some reason. I really wish that hired lawyers that represent these low life couldn't be held responsible as well.

There is a local egg producer near me, Wilcox Farms, that uses Great Pyrenees dogs to protect their flock against invaders. Might be worth looking in to.

Likewise, that's the working dog of choice on many farms around here, they've got a great disposition with folks too in my experience at least.
