Just wanted to say that I am so thankful I found this forum. I have been wanting to start this "addiction" they call smokin' and until I found this forum I was too intimidated to do so.  My name is Vince, I live in southeast Michigan but I love my Ohio State Buckeyes.  I am the new owner of a MES 30", and am in the process of my first smoke.  Nothing crazy just a 5lb chicken, which I stuffd with garlic, a butter and dry rub mixture and then put the same dry rub on the outside.  Cant wait till it is done and I will hopefully be able to post some pics.

The first smoke turned out pretty well.  Did a 5lb chicken in a little under 3 hours @ around 225-235 using applewood.  Finished off in the oven under the broiler for 10 mins to get the crunchy skin that we all love.  The pics are before it went into the broiler.  Going to try some CSR's later this week, or this weekend.  Here is the Qview from my first smoke.

First off welcome to SMF there Vince. You'll really like this place for there are a bunch of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking meat. Then if you have any questions you just post them here or yu can try in chat for a faster answer. If you are really new to all of this I would recommend that you look up and take the e-course. It is free and it will also give you the basics on smoking. So with all that said now go and get something to smoke.

Welcome To Your New Addiction

Thanks for all the kind words.  I hear the weather here in Michigan is going to be nasty cold this weekend, so I dont think I will be smokin anything.  That just gives me time to take the e-course and learn even more about my new "addiction".

@ DanielS-The jimmy johns was just a loaf of day old bread that they sell for .45 cents, that my gf used to make a sandwhich with the smoked chiken.  I did have a back up plan for dinner but didnt need it.
