Hi all, I just got my first smoker - a Masterbuilt vertical propane model.
I've done some smoking with my Weber kettle grill, but it requires so much fiddling that it's not really worth it. I am very excited to try out my new smoker (after I assemble it, that is).
I live in West Central Illinois, where it gets quite cold this time of year, so I'll be looking into adding some insulation, as well as doing some other mods, like adding wheels, a needle valve, gasket sealer for the doors, and of course. Maverick 732 thermometer. (Can you tell I've already been reading some topics on smoker mods? )
I love to cook, and my other hobbies include boating, DIY stuff, and I'm teaching myself to weld (because the boat trailer needs some fixing...).
I've read a bit on the forums and this looks like a real nice place with lots of knowledgeable folks. I look forward to hanging out with you all and learning from the Masters!
