When I get an itch to build something. Normally it's a new boat, but currently we are pretty good on boats.

I have a crew cab truck with a cab over camper. The truck is telling me it needs new injectors again and I'm not sure I want to spend the $4,500 to get them done. It's on to plan B.

Plan B is to buy a new rig for the wife, sell the truck and camper, build a teardrop trailer.

Yesterday I met with the fabricator. I weld but not good enough to weld a trailer frame to cruise down the bumpy highway at 65mph.

So once the frame is ready I'll get to cranking on the wood parts that I know I can make to cruise down the highway.

Anyways here's a few sketches of where I'm heading.

Also will be very informative, never seen this done.

Wishing you the very best with this job.

What you talking about Willis? I'm heading over to the beach this weekend!!!

I'm not sure how long it's going to take my buddy to weld up the frame. If I want the buddy discount I have to have him work it in. Its a simple frame so I suspect once he dives it won't take too long.

Then it's up to me. The basic build won't take long. It's the finishes. I plan to keep it pretty simple though. We dry camp so I don't need too many bells and whistles.

If you're going to make it to the beach let me know. Otherwise make plans to come join us at Paulina Lake in September for our annual messabout.

Thank you. First trailer I've built. I've built many boats though. Wired a bunch of boats and trailers so I think I got this!

You know someone had to ask...how and where will you incorporate a smoker into this project. Good luck w / build, I toyed with the idea of making a teardrop as well. There are a lot of great ideas on the net.

My galley isn't going to be like any other teardrop around!

This is what the back of my rig looked like for a quick beach trip this weekend. My wife walked out right after I posted the pic. "Don't blow up the car". Another friends comment " portable meth lab?"

I have always wanted to build one.
I checked out these guys kits. But they are too small for me.

This is going to be a downsize, but also it will fulfill the needs I have.

I have looked at their kits before, but I like cutting wood! Mine is going to be a 5x8. The trailer frame will be a bit longer to accommodate the bike.

Getting the itch to go grab the marine plywood. For the walls. Probably just go grab a sheet of cdx though to make a pattern. Don't want to get ahead of myself.
