The site works for me as is.

I am not a veteran smoker and the info I get here is invaluable to that end.

The other forums keep things interesting.

As far as the poll goes I think the site will always have smoking/BBQ as the focus. But as far as that goes a little side trip now and again can be a good thing.

I have learned a lot here about smoking etc. and some other good things as well. One of those things is almost any thing you cook you can translate to whatever outdoor cooker you use. So even things that don't necessarily pertain to smoking might still come in handy here.

Another thing is there are lots of great people on here with great ideas and if they are willing to share and help I am good with that. If I see a topic that does not interest me I can just pass it by.

Just my thoughts FWIW.

I love the diversity...  Folks post their special recipes that pair perfectly with most any dish you want to make...   It's becoming a "one stop" meal planning guide..  Great ideas spawn great foods...   An example is the BREAD forum...  from Italian to Sour Dough... Quick and easy breads to complex Ryes..   Fermented vegetables to fermented meat...   Then there is / was Leah Elisheva with her awesome photography of seafood and wine pairings...    Leah Elisheva, where did you go ??

I think it's fine, as long as there are separate Forums for various things.

That way if you aren't interested in one or two Sub-Categories, you can just avoid them.

It's all cooking in one form or another.

I agree 100%.....we all eat more than just que!! Need side dishes, desserts etc.

There's not much in this world of eating that I love more than pulled pork.  BUT along with that pulled pork, I want cold slaw, maybe smoked corn on the cob, some of Miss Judy's homemade buns, and of course.......DESERT!!!!  Lord knows I've tried a lot of the desert recipes posted on this site.

IMO, its a really well balanced site.
