IGrill 2 vs Mav 733

There was just a thread on IGrill 2 and did not want to highjack some one elses thread.I have to order some therms on Amazon for my new smoker build in the next week.

What would be the best between these two ? I dont have great internet on my laptop very slow and goes in and out regularly or any web service on my cell phone.My office is in my home it would be nice to do some work while smoking. So should I buy 2 Mav 733 or 1 IGrill 2 ?

If you have an iphone is buy the igrill2. I have an original igrill and a maverick 733. They both work great no complaints. But the fact you can use 4 probes with an igrill2 is all the difference. I don't need a new one since I just bought the maverick 733 not to long ago, but when I do I'll be buying it.

I have a Iphone but it is to make calls only no web service or Apps to it, will this make a differance ? Sorry but living here I am very behind times in the HI Tech so my questions mite be real stupid to some.

You will need the iDevices app on your phone to run the iGrill2. So if you can't get apps it won't work.

Thank you no IGrill 2 for me at this time.The Mav 733 does not have the same problem since it has a transmitter and reciever ?

I made the leap today and made a order thru  Amazon if every thing shows up in less then 1 month I will be happy.

Order.

1.  Maverick ET 733

1. Maverick Pro Temp PT 100 Thermapen

1. 5lb Insta Cure #1

3. Tru Temp BQ 300

1. 2oz injecter w/both needles

1. PR of high temp gloves

Every thing will be dropped shipped to my shipper in Miami then forward to me.If all goes correctly I will be eating BACON in 2 months.This is worst then Xmas shopping in august and hope every one likes their presents in december hahahahah

Good luck! First thing to do when you get that therm is to test the probes in boiling water and ice water to see how accurate they are. Note any variances and adjust accordingly. My 732, was only off by a few degrees so I didn't worry. My first Mav had one probe that was 5 degrees off, the other was 8 degrees off. That's a bit much for me when cooking poultry!

Thank you for the heads up on checking the probes.Years past I smoked alot of meat but this will be my first hi tech therms.Before it was old school trial ,error and feel you are never to old to learn a new trick hahahahah

I dont have the iGrill (yet) but you shoudl be fine with no internet service. You should be able to download the app on you computer and transfer it to the phone via the USB cord. Then when operating the igrill its over bluetooth which is built into your phone and doesn't require internet, its a direct link from the device to your phone. So if you think internet is holding you back then you should be fine.

Also i just saw that they are developing a Android app also...i signed up for the notification

I just received notice my order has arrived in the city. I will go tomorrow and pick it up 2hr drive 1 way. I have a list of other things to buy so not a long trip for a small box.Well every thing but the Tru Temps BQ300 Another week for them.I will get to play with my new Mav 733 even if it is on the gas grill.

Figures I found where to buy cure #1 in the city after ordering 5lbs on Amazon.Amazon was $20 plus $20 shipping.Here it is $17 for 5lbs and no shipping.

Just got back from picking up my pkg every thing was there except the BQ300.I did find me a digitail scale that does metric and american and goes from 1/2 t pepper to 20lbs.This weekend I will be doing something I have never done in my life Reading directions on how to operate my Mav 733 and Mav thermapen.My scale directions are in every language but english I will just punch buttons till my wife takes it away and figures it out then she can teach me Some times it works to play real stupid hahahahaha

I did buy a 2oz metal injection with 2 needles and a pr of insulated gloves for grabbing meat and hot items.I had to laugh at the gloves they are only good up to 248 deg only for hot meat do not use handleing grates????? I should  just stay with my long tongs and the wifes kitchen towels give the gloves to the wife to wash the dishes......
