Well we just had the power back on today, Off sense 3:30 Friday afternoon. Knew the storm was coming but not like this . Thank god for generators.
Another weekend another bad storm good start to 2022 ha ha .

Everything covered with at least 3/4"ice, broken trees everywhere , lots bent over until they break

Mona not happy big Birch snapped and laying on her trailer, and now frozen there, and the one beside it about to break soon, until Tuesdays rain....I hope its rain.

Today sunny but still -10 C , -18 during the night
We are good , kept the generator going most of the time because very cold out , They were calling for snow yesterday, glad that did not amount to much.
But because lots of broben tree tops just hanging up there , for the next few windy days there will be lots of tree parts coming down and more power outages. Can't wait

SORRY back to food
Tired of eating left overs that was in the fridge , and unless I shut down the heat to use the over/stove , Out to the BBQ in the -10deg, C and
Boneless Pork Steaks and Baked Potatoes, onions , , All soaked in Soya, Mine with onion bbq sauce and Mona's with more Soya sauce

Stay safe and thanks for reading

Hate the sound of trees breaking from the ice. You never really know where its gonna land. Plate looks good. Y'all stay safe and warm.

The food looks great! Ice storms are the worst. I'm glad you made it through.

Thanks Steve for the comment

Nice to have a hot fresh cooked meal , lol

Yes this is bad for us, we have never lost our power for that long , and the trees are still full and very dangerous to walk under .All the broken tops and branches . And will be that way for awhile. More down when the wind picks up for a while I bet.

Yes during Friday night before dark I was moving some of the broken branches from the big trees in the yard off of my apple trees
and big cracks and ice falling, not sure which way to run so had to stop, and the wind was suppose to gust to 50 km. So just not safe , waiting until tomorrow or Tuesday to move the tree off of the trailer if it is not still iced onto the roof.
At least I know it will melt sometime.

thanks

That’s a great meal cooked under great duress. Being from fire, earthquake, and flood territory I’m always trying to tell folks how important outdoor cooking equipment is, along with even a small generator. I’ve cooked too many meals with no power or on generator power to not take this little hobby of mine more seriously when it come to natural disasters. It’s much more than just weenies on the grill.

Awesome looking meal David! Sucks to have weather like that! I hate ice storms...usually don't lose power during a blizzard. Thought about sending you some fire pics to warm you up. Better go sit by your palm trees and pour ya something to warm you up!

Well said about being able to help one's self with being prepared for times like this. Just found out that a friend down the road did not have a generator , and was without heat for 2 days. Found out from my plumber that went there to help with their pipes. I called them and politely got mad at them for not reaching out as they could have come here or if I had known I could have given them my small ei2000 Honda . that would have at least kept a light or 2 and the furnace going.
But maybe I should have reached out to them also.

Wow! Valor medal for going out to cook in that temp! Meal looks perfect and tasty!

The warming up drink happened when the power corp turned the switch back on today lol.
Yes we have had freezing rain before but this was real bad for us this time in this part of the province. Still
lots without power. We were good with the generator for heat and lights. But I shut it down for about 5 hours at night so I could sleep a bit. I just cant sleep with it going. Made for cool mornings but only for a bit once I fired it back up ( miss my wood stove at times like this).
If it got real bad could have went to the shop and lit the wood stove there to cook on. But BBQ was closer

Great looking Storm Vittles, David!! Like.
Good thing we don't live in the Cold Weather state of Texas!!

We love it here, when the trees all look like they're covered in crystal glass.

I don't like the cold either , worked too many days for other people when I had to outside in the cold. Now working for myself I just tell myself to go to hell, and do it another day.
Mona really wanted pork and baked potatoes , and I was not shutting down the heat so we could use the oven ....so out to the deck and the BBQ
and made leftovers tonight with it . But could do it indoors, win win for me
