I have loved muzzle loaders since the mid 80’s when I started taking deer hunting seriously, killed my first with a H&R inline which was better than side locks imo, that was borrowed have only owned new CVA’s up until I bought the Savage, love the no cleaning till I want to no crud ring ect. Some folks are trying to get them to pass straight wall to take the place of ML, if yhey do that might as well make it pick a weapon here’s the dates and the limits, traditions mean nothing to some folks

Well said mike243 mike243 –im not against any weapons….i just like the old stuff. Sometimes I use the new stuff too. Our rifle opens the 15th and I’ll be toting a .270 looking for this guy

Took us to the last day as the weather here has been unseasonably warm… we generally depend on the cold and snowy weather to push them down to wintering grounds… and catch them coming thru. However and thankfully… we did end up on this elk hunt filling 3 of 4 tags. Very thankful to have some meat in the freezer!

I haven't hunted for many years. But when I did, there was a small, local grocery store in Winthrop, WA, where the butcher would process folks deer at night after close. He charged to $100 to cut steaks & roasts, grind the rest with some beef tallow, and wrap everything nicely in white butcher paper. Then it would be waiting for you the next day, frozen, in a cardboard box. (As I said, this was some time ago, 1980's-90's.)
That caused me to wonder how many places like this are left where you can get game processed? We had a small butcher shop outside of Edmonds, WA that would do this too, but he closed down at least 30 years ago.

This is still quite common in Arkansas. Ranging from established butcher shops to part timers who only open for business during hunting season and vacation or work other jobs the rest of the year.
