Longtime lurker, first time poster. Actually, I figured I should go ahead and create a login.

I got into smoking a little over a year ago and I've been having the itch to build a refrigerator smoker. Just so happens a nice lady gave away, yes FREE, a 1948 Hotpoint refrigerator recently on my neighborhood Facebook page in perfect shape. I'm amazed that the insulation was basically 3" of cardboard.

This will be a project for my 10yr old son and I to work on. I know the popular build is to use a pellet rig, but I'm wanting to build an insulated firebox underneath. I've got lots of ideas running through my head (a number that I have seen on SMF), and hope to be able to put it all down in a post very soon.

This is something I want my son to have in the future so it's one of those builds I want to do right the first time.

Thanks all,

Jason

Good morning and welcome to the forum from a muggy wet day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about everything.
