Howdy from the Houston area! Im married with 2 kids and I enjoy smoking, camping, fishing and hunting. My husband and i have been on a competition BBQ team for about 10 years (well, me 10, him 6), working my way up from dish washer/go-for to being in charge of chicken seasoning. We mostly cook at county fairs and other local events. At our last cook off (when I moved up to seasoner), we took first and second out of 298 teams. We had not placed in chicken at all in the last 4 cook offs. Boss man still chooses the seasoning but I choose when and how it goes on. My husband and nephew are then in charge of smoking it. My husband and I have recently started working on rubs and smoking different things in hopes to get our own team up and running in a couple years. Today, I have brisket smoking in our back yard smoker with my homemade rub (no store bought here!) and this is mine and my husband's first time doing brisket at home. I think it's safe to say, we've mastered pork spare ribs, pork butt, pork loin and chicken. Hoping to try out beef ribs and more brisket here in the near future (as meat prices allow).

When we're not smoking, we love hanging out with our kids, fishing any chance we get, and just doing anything outside the house that we can.

This is our backyard smoker, hoping to replace it around tax time.

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff. Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!
