How to store finished ribs for 8 hours before supper

  1. Happy thanksgiving to everyone on this nice forum.

    I've been cooking since 3am for 6 slabs of bb ribs to prepare for our thanksgiving supper at 6pm today (it's my first time to show my family this new hobby). By the calculation, the ribs will be done by 10am. I have to go to work after that, and won't be back until 5pm. How do I store the ribs and still keep them warm for dinner at 6pm ? Do I need to put them in oven just before serving again?

    Normally I would say double wrapped in foil then put in a cool with towels and that will keep them warm for at least 5 hours but 8 hours is a long time.   You might be able to pull it off if you foil the heck out of them and have a really good cooler with lots of towels but I think 8 hours might be a bit long. You may be better off cooling them then reheating them when you get home. Is there going to be anyone at home while you are at work that could throw them in the oven for you at a low temp before you get home?

    I agree, go ahead and cool and reheat them. 8 hours is to long to be just in the cooler imho

    X3 on it being to long.

    I use a pan of hot water in my cambro which lets it hold much longer then normal but no way could I go 8 hours.

    Ribs heat up fast. BB's shouldn't take more then 30 min to an hour. I do mine at 325 in the foil until there are hot to the touch (Where I don't want to hold on to them for very long) Then unwrap and let them stiffen a little bit.

    My mom took my ribs to the lake once frozen, thawed, warmed on a cookie sheet and won first place at a cow town poe dunk bar---bbq. Of course it was a small bar and there was no rules other then which ever ones tastes best won.

  5. Ok, I can settle for the reheat option.. What kind of oven temperature should I set, and how long would it take... how do I know it's done.

    225 F

    Tme depends on the tempeture of the meat.  But about1.25 hours should do it.  Put water in the bottom of the pan.  About 1/3 a cup.  Loose foil cover.
