As many of you know I haul my mini with me all the time.

I recently sold my camp set up. My 2003 Chevy needed new injectors again and since it was out of warranty, 260,000. That meant my in bed camper which had close to them at many miles and memories had to go too.

Some have seen my thread about the Teardrop I plan to build. I don't expect it to be done until next summer.

So I bought a 12x16 canvas wall tent. Rain fly, included with a 6' extension off the front.

This is not a down grade, as I really like camping out in a wall tent. Stoking the fire in my wood stove, cooking good food and drinking beers.

Smoker cooking good food right out the door.

With that said I pack my mini on these trips and also when we say trip in the canoe. Or at least the SMJ.

When I do multi day trips on dry land charcoal isn't an issue, as a bag usually lasts three to four days.

On the water it's a different story. Taking a full bag of charcoal isn't an option.

It gets wet, and it's bulky.

So my solution has been to measure out what I need, fill my charcoal basket, bag it per cook and put the charcoal in 1 gallon or 2 gallon ziplocks. It's actually easier than hauling a whole bag.

A 1 gallon bag will fit in the SMJ base., and you can get 6 in the tamale pot if your packing it!

Anyways, I'm off to boat and cook tomorrow so I'll update the photos then.

    Smoke away!!!

Do similar deal for picnicing or bbq with kids at their place, but like to use paper lunch sacks with bacon grease on the charcoal in the bag but dont boat with the smokey joe so waterproof not really an issue for me.
