How long a season

  1. How long does Pear wood need to season before it should be used in a smoke? I was just given some fresh cut pear wood today & was wondering if it was ok to use for mixing with my seasoned birch for smoking my turkey & ham for Thanksgiving.

    For wood to properly season it mneeds around 6 months of air drying.

     I have seen post where folks have used green wood for cooking / smoking.

    You would just have to be SURE that you have good  air circulation so that the smoke is not staying in the smoker to long

    [​IMG]I'm with Bob on this one and say about 6 monthes or so. If you keep an eye on the ends of the your chunks of pear and when they start to crack that is a good way to check if it ready.
