How long does Pear wood need to season before it should be used in a smoke? I was just given some fresh cut pear wood today & was wondering if it was ok to use for mixing with my seasoned birch for smoking my turkey & ham for Thanksgiving.

For wood to properly season it mneeds around 6 months of air drying.

I have seen post where folks have used green wood for cooking / smoking.

You would just have to be SURE that you have good  air circulation so that the smoke is not staying in the smoker to long

I'm with Bob on this one and say about 6 monthes or so. If you keep an eye on the ends of the your chunks of pear and when they start to crack that is a good way to check if it ready.
