This is also known to the Scouters here as Hudson Bay Bread.

3 sticks butter

2 cups sugar... I used pure cane.

1/3 cup karo syrup

1/3cup honey

1tsp maple flavor

Cream together and add while mixing::::

1 cup ground/chopped nuts...I used pecans and almonds.

10 cups quick cooking oatmeal.

I creamed with the KA.

Spread in large sheet and press it into the pan.

Convection oven at 325 for 15 or so minutes. A little longer for non convection.

As soon as it comes out press the whole thing down with a big spatula several times..so it won't crumble.

Cut it while still warm.

I have made this a bunch of times for backpacking and hiking.

Tastes great and tons of calories.

  Have a great day!!

Those look and sound really good Craig! Thanks for the recipe I will add them to my must-try list!

Craig, I have to temporarily part with you here.  I promise I will be back soon.

If we could feed that to pork and beef, I bet the price would come down.

For people, I think San Francisco would be a great market!

Forgive me man, I still think you are great!  LOL

Good luck and good smoking.

Hey man!!  Haven't you heard??? I am a sensitive kinda guy!!!

Actually I am going to start hiking again..Seems like I can make some miles.

Not bad for an old guy that was about killed last year.

These things don't weigh much and have lots of calories,,,,and they don't taste too bad.

I ain't giving up pork or nuthin...

  hahaha

Take Raptor hiking with you!

He can tote the smoker over his shoulder, and you can carry a pig under one arm, and the beer under the other.
