I've been smoking meat on and off for a few years--first with a charcoal smoker with side firebox, later a cheap propane box smoker. Both could do a great job, but required quite a bit of tending--plus I've moved to an upstairs apartment and the smoker is in the yard downstairs, so i quit for a while. Yesterday Woot.com had a Landmann Smoky Mountain Series electric for $100, so I ordered one and joined here. Recently I've started doing sous-vide cooking very successfully--I suspect that the combination of smoking and sous-vide could make some really great meat.
