Hello y'all,

My name is Michael and as the thread title states, I live in West Virginia. I am originally from Pennsylvania but my father and myself were both military so we have moved all over the country. I just recently purchased my first smoker(2 weeks ago), the small and portable, GMG Davy Crockett. I will first start by saying I already regret not getting the next size up BUT I wanted portability and this most definitely is that. I have never smoked before but I have been trying out some burgers, chicken breast, and steaks on it. I like to smoke the steaks first before grilling and have had excellent results but what really made me log on here and create a profile was, I just completed smoking my first ever boston butt. It's in the freezer chilling as we speak so I can vacuum seal it to take to a family get together tomorrow for lunch. I was so nervous cooking this but man do I feel like a gosh darn American now! haha. This pork is so tender and has some of the best flavor I have ever tasted. I look forward to chatting with you all and getting some good ideas and recipes from you veterans.

Welcome.
Hey learning is all part of process. Even smoker size will become learning as you see what and how much you smoke....sometimes the smaller is good. You will learn how to get around this.

Good Morning and a Big Ole Welcome from East Texas and the best Forum on the Web
