Well, I used to be known here as No Quarter BBQ, or something to that effect, but since retiring from the Coast Guard and relocating to my hometown in Virginia, I've lost my account/log in info. So, here I am again with a shiny new name and a fresh SMF restart. I've been masterfully backyard smoking and grilling for about 13 years or so, glad to be back. My current setup is an MES 40 Sportsman Elite and my 26" Weber. I'm in the market for an offset stick burner, currently researching the options.

Cheers!

Pardon my fumbling around as I relearn navigating the forum with my phone.

I’m from Richmond, born and raised. I was researching the OC Pecos as my budget $500ish. I’m not a competitor, just a smoking hobbyist looking to wow my family, friends and neighbors with good Q. I know BBQ, I don’t know offsets but want to learn. My method has been set it and forget it, my MES40 has been very reliable but I want to learn firebox management and take my hobby to the next level. All of my gear is kept inside so I imagine with proper care it will last me many years.

Well, after considerable research I'm finding that I'm going to save more money and increase my budget. $500 just isn't the quality I'm looking for.
