My name is Eric and I am a propane addict. Have been for 30 + years. I grill year round and about 3 to 5 times a week. Last month (August) I decided to get the smoker out that I won at a banquet about 10 years ago and give it a try. I have to say there is nothing like it. I have a Masterbuilt Master Barbecue Grill Smoker Cooker. It about the same as an ECB but has a top vent and vented legs. I drilled holes in the charcoal pan and placed a small grill in the bottom to give the fuel some breathing room. I am using a Maverick digital probe for grill and food.
For fuel I have used Kingsford and Green egg lump charcoal. Both using Apple wood. I am using the Minion method of placing and lighting the charcoal.
I have done two pork tenderloins and two beef brisket. I have rubbed them with Sweet Rub O' Mine and John Henry's Apple Chipotle Rub. I have done both on the grill and in a foil pan. I am looking forward to trying ribs, pork butt and turkey.
I am located North of Dayton Ohio and looking forward to reading some of the post in here to get some more suggestions and recipes, thanks!
